Ad flagged as social issue or political by mistake

If an ordinary product ad is flagged as being about social issues, elections or politics, request a review of the ad and explain what it sells. Words about health, the environment, the economy or rights can trigger the flag. If you do run such ads, you need to complete Meta's ad authorization and add a paid for by disclaimer.

Common triggers

Steps

  1. Open the rejected ad in Account Quality.
  2. Request a review and state in one line what the ad sells.
  3. If the review is declined, edit the trigger words and submit a new version.
  4. If your ads really are about social issues, complete the authorization for your country first.

Repeated flags

Many rejected ads can lead to account restrictions. Fix the wording rather than resubmitting the same ad.

Official sources

Meta changes its help pages, menus and forms often. Follow the wording on your own screen and the current Help Center. Ad Account Unban is an independent service and is not affiliated with Meta.

YOUR QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

Does this apply in every country?

The rules for social issue, electoral and political ads apply in many countries, with local requirements. Check Meta's page for your country.

Will it affect my account?

Repeated rejected ads can. One flag on its own usually does not.

Can I appeal more than once?

Edit and resubmit instead of appealing the same ad again.
